Jules Stewart Talks About Why Kristen Didn't do K-11 and If She Would Direct Kristen Some Day

Watch part of the interview where she talks about Kristen (first video)

Kristen Stewart may have dropped out of her mom Jules Stewart's directorial debut, K-11, but that doesn't mean she isn't in the film.

Kate del Castillo from K-11 Talks About Kristen

SBC: Did you get to work with Kristen Stewart? I heard she was in the movie and if you did, did you share any scenes with her?

KC: No, she was not in the movie. I think she did some voices only but I definitely met with her and she is amazing, she is a sweetheart, she was really nice with me, but I played many things with her brother Cam. Jules and her whole family are amazing; I wish [Kristen] would have played a role in the movie because she is a great, amazing young actress.

MAMASTEW MENTIONS KRISTEN. K-11 INTERVIEW WITH TOTAL FILM

imagebam.com

The likeness between the two is unmistakable in Stewart's blue-eyed gaze and mannerisms (and she's hugely proud of her megastar offspring) but don't assume this project got off the ground because of nepotism.

To have your daughter being so in the public eye and so popular, a lot of people accuse me of using her to get where I am,” Stewart openly admits. “That’s a negaive thing and not true.”

Stewart Jr. (Kristen) intended to play Butterfly, a transvestite male inmate of K-11, a real wing of the LA jail reserved for gay, transvestite and transgender inmates, where Goran Visnjuc’s heterosexual innocent man is thrown. Then Twilight happened… “She became this big movie star. She became too big for me. She stepped away to protect it.”

After three stalled starts Stewart gained French funding and energetically cracked on, but the film remained a family affair - Kristen got a role in the end as a voice of a secretary on the phone ("a micro cameo") and her brother Cameron makes his screen debut as a mohawked-neo nazi.

Kristen's interview with Top Teen (Mexico)

What did it mean to you to play a new version of a princess that is very different from what we’re used to seeing?
I don’t think we have a clear idea anymore about what a princess should be like. We think of them as women who don’t have to do anything, who don’t have to think, and people do everything for them because they’re pretty. In this story, Snow White is a more than capable character, she engages in battles, etc.

Are you as brave as Snow White? What should our readers do to be brave?
I try to be, to be honest. But the answer varies with each person because we all do different things, which should always be true to yourself, and never being ashamed of who you are. We have to be capable to deal with every day, carry on, instead of turning around and compare yourself to another girl. Just be yourself. It doesn’t look like it’s easy but it is.

Are women vindicated in their roles in fairy tales thanks to SW?
Yes, definitely. In the original sotry SW was presented as the perfect woman. Here she’s a matriarc; she does more than sing to birds and clean.

What qualities should a boy have to be a perfect prince?
He must be cute, fun, strong (laughs). No, I think he needs to be honest and dependable.

The concept of beauty is mentioned a lot in the movie, what’s your concept of true beauty?
It’s more than just shining for others. You need to have the perfect face to be beautiful. Being ugly or beautiful is a matter of energy, and true beauty comes from the heart. You can’t hide who you are; ultimately it’s going to show.

What’s your favorite place in the world?
I’m from LA, and I think it’s wonderful because we have forests, beaches, suburbs. We have the most beautiful sunsets. My favorite place in the world is my house.

Which book do you love that you would like to be involved in its adaptation?
Lie Down in Darkness, by William Styron. It’s an amazing story, maybe one day.

How has your life changed since the last time you came to Mexico?
The last time I came here was to promote Eclipse with Taylor Lautner (note from Vale: It was actually for New Moon, Kris!), and it was hard for me to deal with people, you could see it in my face. But this trip has been more relaxed, I’ve enjoyed it more, I don’t feel so far away from home. I love Mexican food, and I can cook some. I would love to go out and walk outside, but I can’t.

Your mom directed K-11 with Mexican actress Kate del Castillo (Note from Vale: Kate is one of Mexico’s most famous and loved actresses, with a very long and impressive career) did you get to meet her?
Yeah, she’s great, very open and cool. Mom was very lucky to work with an actress like her. She looks great on her motorcycle.

What makes you happy about being famous, and what doesn’t make you very happy?
The bets part is that I get to share feelings with people. With the director, with actors, with the very loud and passionate fans screaming outside for me. Sharing their love for something as big as Twilight. But I hate it when people are mad at you when you refuse to sell a part of your life. If they don’t like it they can f*ck themselves. I can’t stand actresses who think that outside of their work they deserve all the attention and admiration.

MAMASTEW (@realjulesstew) TWEETS ABOUT KRISTEN

Photobucket
@RealJulesStew My Globetrotting baby is on her way to Cannes... Maybe I'll buy her a baguette?!

And some happy K-11 news  from MamaStew "Australia and Germany just bought K-11! Yay!"

KRISTEN TALKS ABOUT K-11'S KATE DEL CASTILLO

Photobucket Photobucket

EonLine.Mexico Kate Del Castillo's talent has gained her a new fan. And one that already has her fan base. (millions of them) After going to visit the set of her mom's film. Kristen Stewart had the opportunity to meet and see the work of the Mexican actress and completely fell in love.

In a recent interview while promoting her upcoming film (Snow White and The Huntsman), in Mexico, the star of Twilight had nothing but compliments to say about the actress. "The whole cast is excellent, i can't choose one as my favorite but, I must say that Kate shines. She's like no other actor or actress. She has a light that's very special. You'll see her performance in the film because, even though her character is not an easy one to play and it requires a alot to develop, she does it in a way that is so impressive."

Kate will play a transsexual who is the principal voice of the inmates in a prison in Los Angeles and the director is Kristen's mother, Jules Stewart. "The truth is that my mom is very lucky for having had her in this project, no one else could have been able to do it." (...) "She's very open. She has a very cool way of thinking and if there was an opportunity of working with her on a project that would be great. I think we'd get along very well inside and outside the set."

Without doubt, the love and admiration from Stewart is great support towards Kate now that she is closer and closer in becoming a recognized figure in Hollywood.

@realjulesstew TALKS K-11, OTR, AND CANNES

Photobucket
Q: Talking about the cast, your son Cameron did his first onscreen performance. Does he have new projects going on ?No because he is actually a grip. I wrote that character, Sledgehammer, with him in my mind and he agreed to actually do it. He is very shy and sweet and I'm really proud of him, he did a great job.

Q: And your daughter Kristen also plays a micro-cameo in the movie…
JS: Yes, she is the secretary on the telephone. She loves the film and wanted to be a part of it. She was going to be Butterfly at first. Kristen attached herself to that role years ago but the schedule didn’t work. There was Snow White and the Huntsman and I have to push her up to do this big movie.

Cameron Stewart & K-11 in 'Who' magazine (Australia)

Kristen Stewart's big brother Cameron is making his acting debut in K-11, a prison drama written and directed by their mother , Jules, 58, due out later this year. Cameron, 26, worked as a production grip for five years before moving in front of the camera for his role as Sledgehammer, a neo-Nazi in an LA prison ward. "My mum kind of wrote the part based on me," says Stewart, who already had a mohawk, "Not because I'm a tweaker [a drug addict], but because I'm skinny. So I guess she was going for the whole skinny-mohawk-neo-Nazi thing."
Acting in the first project directed by his mother, a long-time script supervisor, proved to be a bonding experience for the pair. "I've worked with my mom a couple of times before. You have a solid support base when you're at work," he says. "This put us out of our element together. I feel closer with my mom, a camaraderie because we made the movie." Stewart says his "awesome, supportive" clan never pressured him to make movies. "I just fell in love with it, honestly." Nor was he terrible nervous. "If my sister can do it, then I then I thought i could do it."

In this week's issue of 'Who' magazine in Australia (April 4).
