KRISTEN'S INTERVIEW WITH TU MEXICO

It’s funny because I get nervous when I’m talking to the press about me. I don’t like that people have this idea of me being stuck up, or that I don’t care about giving interviews. If people are going to hate me because of this missconception, then it’s my job to prove that they’ couldn’t be more wrong. But if they have other reasons to hate me, then it doesn’t bother me at all. I’m happy doing what I do.
What items are never missing from your suitcase?
My nun sweater (laughs). I’ve had it since the 6th grade and I’ve been close to losing it, and it almost freaked me out. Obviously my cellphone. Other than that, I don’t like travelling by myself, so I always take a friend that makes me feel safe. Here in Mexico my entire team is with me. Fortunately all the people that work with me are close friends too.
How would you describe your prince charming?
I don’t know. Princesses and princes like we used to know them no longer exist (laughs). But I imagine someone who’s a leader. A leader needs to be dependable and loyal.
If you could change one thing with one kiss what would it be? Getting pregnant? Teletransporting yourself? Becoming invisible? Protect your boyfriend…
I want everything you just said except the getting pregnant part (laughs). I’m so not ready for that yet. I’d love to teletransport myself, just by jumping. Everytime I blow birthday candles, or when I hold my breath inside a tunnel, I do ask for a wish. I never ask for anything specific because I’m afraid it’s not going to happen. I just do something strange, if I have a feeling I repeat to myself “Please, please, be happy, be happy”. And I do feel happy and free.

The first thing you notice about her is not her tiny frame. It’s her eyes. They are big and turquoise green, which were hidden under brown contacts for Twilight. Second, her shaky hands. Watching her take a bottle of water one can’t help but believe she really is as clumsy as she says she is. Her nervousness around the press, which to be fair she has almost dominated now, because despite stammering occasionally still, she gets her ideas across more clearly. What’s true is that Stewart has the beauty and vulnerability to play Snow White.
What made you want play this princess?
You learn about her in the script, and I loved that. She’s been in prison for ten years of he life. The world before she was imprisoned was beautiful and clean. When she gets out she finds it infected, drained from any sort of life. She forces herself to take the weapons she has inside of her. I loved playing a heroine like this.
What was your relationship with Snow White growing up?
I actually never had it. I never even saw the movie. My favorite Disney movie was The Jungle Book. I was never into princess movies, so when they called me for SWATH and I knew it would be a very different story from what we know, and after seeing Rupert Sanders presentation I was in.

On why she chose Snow White, and why it reflects life itself:
“It’s very simple – don’t go after things because they appear to be perfect. Life is not like that.”
On being private about her personal life:
“I think it’s weird when actors start to believe they’re interesting and cool because they sell themselves. I don’t have a problem with Twitter, and probably if I wasn’t in this position I’d have one, but when you start giving away pieces of yourself, you stop being you.”
On challenging herself as an actress:
“I think everybody wants to find something new, I want to find something that amazes me. Genres don’t mean anything to me, because not everything is happy or sad nedessarily. Even in a sad situations you can find happy times, and sometimes you laugh, so they call it a drama, or it’s a dark comedy. For me, I just need to find a world in there. To read a story that somebody wrote, and find it real. I just want to make sure that I’m moving forward.”
On liking Mexican culture, wanting to learn Spanish and disliking when people call Mexico dangerous:
“I’m sorry I can’t say anything in Spanish, but if there was a language I could learn it would be Spanish. There’s something about living in LA, we’re so close, and I went to a school where most of my classmates had a Mexican parent. It bothers me that people say I can’t spend more time in Mexico, because it’s dangerous or beause I shouldn’t, but I’m so close to it that I’m not afraid.”
On apologizing for not greeting fans at the airport:
“Sometimes people think I’m mean, but I think they understand. They had police officers. They say I run from airports but I’m not the one who chooses which exit to take. I like coming to Mexico, and I’m not saying that because I’m here. It’s because people here are so passionate and they’re always very warm, everybody looks so happy, and that makes us feel good, but I am sorry.”
